The Toronto Maple Leafs announced the hiring of Derek Clancey as assistant general manager player personnel on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. Clancey, a highly respected NHL executive, brings a wealth of experience to his new role with the Maple Leafs.
Seasoned NHL Professional
The 54-year-old Clancey has a distinguished career in NHL front offices. He previously served as assistant general manager for the Buffalo Sabres from 2017 to 2022 and has also held scouting positions with the Colorado Avalanche and Montreal Canadiens. In the 2021-22 season, he worked as a pro scout for the Arizona Coyotes.
