Zach Arnett Named Defensive Coordinator at Mississippi State
Former Linebacker and Assistant Coach Returns to Starkville
Arnett was instrumental in the Bulldogs' success during his previous stint as an assistant coach
Mississippi State University has announced the appointment of Zach Arnett as the team's new defensive coordinator. Arnett, who previously served as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs from 2010 to 2017, most recently worked as an analyst at the University of Mississippi.
Arnett was a standout linebacker for the Bulldogs from 2005 to 2009, earning All-SEC honors three times and being named an All-American in 2008. After graduating, he joined the coaching staff at his alma mater and quickly made a name for himself as a rising star in the profession.
Under Arnett's tutelage, the Bulldogs' defense ranked among the top in the SEC in several statistical categories. In 2013, the Bulldogs led the SEC in total defense and quarterback sacks. Arnett also played a key role in the development of several successful players, including former All-American linebacker Leo Lewis.
Arnett's return to Mississippi State is a welcome addition for the Bulldog faithful. He is a proven leader with a deep understanding of the Bulldogs' defense and the SEC landscape.
